49 - 4th Grade AstroCamp Experience

The 3-day, 2-night overnight trip for 4th Grade takes place at AstroCamp, located in mile-high Idyllwild, in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County. During the students' stay in the rustic landscape, where in some years it snows, students make real-world connections to their school curriculum about nature, environments, force and motion, and electricity. Activities also introduce the 4th graders to concepts that they will study in more depth in 5th grade science, including the atmosphere and the solar system.

Overnight trips are an integral element of the school’s experiential learning program for students in Grades 4-6. School-designed, chaperoned, age-appropriate overnight experiences promote students’ ability to navigate decision-making and cooperation within a group and build the individual’s confidence and self-reliance when they are away from home and predictable daily routines.
