45 - Cougars in the Water

The Cougar Swim Team made a memorable splash at the San Fernando Valley Private School League Swim Finals in fall 2019. Curtis girls won first place overall in the SFVPSL Girls Division and Curtis boys captured second place overall in the Boys Division. The meet, at Viewpoint School, capped an exciting season in the pool for our swimmers. Over 40 Cougar swimmers came out on the weekend to represent Curtis in the finals, which had been postponed from the previous week due to the Getty Fire and other local fires that affected air quality and access to the meet venue.

Swimming has been a key part of Curtis's physical education program since the school opened in 1925. Once the first building on our Mulholland campus was completed in 1983, the school focused on providing the facilities needed to support the athletics program, and by 1985, the swimming pool was in place. Time in the Cougar Pool elicits delight from our youngest DK students to our oldest 6th graders, and swimming is a hugely popular fall season option for students in Grades 4-6.
