Stephen E. Switzer was Curtis School’s fifth headmaster. Formerly headmaster of Le Jardin Academy, in Hawaii, Mr. Switzer succeeded Clay Stites in 1997 and led Curtis for 12 years, until 2009. Mr. Switzer spearheaded the Securing Our Future Campaign that significantly grew the school’s endowment, establishing a firm foundation for the the school's future. Important enhancements to the campus undertaken during Mr. Switzer’s tenure include a second Developmental Kindergarten classroom, the Upper Field restroom and storage building, and improved security, including the construction of a guard station at the entrance to the school.
