29 - Dads Day on Lower Courts

Dads Day, the forerunner of Sports Night, began in 1993/1994 as the combination of two previous long-running traditions: the Father-Daughter Breakfast/Brunch and the Father-Son Banquet. On Dad’s Day, fathers and special friends joined their Curtis students in Grades 4-8 for spirited games and camaraderie that culminated in a grand tug of war. Afterwards, they enjoyed a steak and chicken dinner provided by Dearmore’s Barbecue on the lower tennis courts. In 1999, the evening’s festivities were expanded to include an athletic awards ceremony. In 2018, Dad’s Day transitioned to Sports Night, and included all parents and guardians of our 4th-6th graders in this beloved Curtis tradition that celebrates both the athletics program and our students’ achievements and growth in skills, sportsmanship, and character over the course of the school year.
