17 - American Appreciation Day Show

Beginning in the mid-1960’s, Curtis students presented an annual salute to America, through the music and poetry that have become a part of the country’s tradition. This performance, named American Appreciation Day, continued until the late 1990s. Over time, the show took on a particular theme each year, such as honoring women, inventors, exploration, and other topics and events that celebrate the history and development of the United States. In this photo from the 1970s at the Beverly Place campus, students tell the story of American sports and athletes.
