Summer Camp Lifeguard
Curtis is seeking a full-time summer day camp Lifeguard to join a supportive, inclusive, and educational learning community as a member of the camp team. Curtis School is a DK-6 co-ed elementary school whose mission is to “develop, in every child, a sound mind in a sound body, governed by a compassionate heart.”

The ideal candidate has the ability to effectively communicate, demonstrates patience, and exudes positive energy. They are able to effectively respond to emergency situations, and possess excellent swimming and lifesaving skills. The Lifeguard role will be under the supervision of our Pool Director and will assist in general pool safety and supervision as well as swimming instruction for young campers. The Lifeguard role will oversee groups of 15 - 30 campers during 4 time periods throughout the day. The responsibilities include providing pool support to the Pool Director, monitoring and cleaning locker rooms, and providing pool safety and instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Instructs or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming.
- Supervises swimming activities at the pool area and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Educates swimmers about improper activities and dangers and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Administers first aid in the event of injury; rescues swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
- Evaluates conditions to assess safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
- Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- Assists in monitoring and cleaning locker room area(s) and related facilities and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Possess a current Lifeguarding Certificate from a Certified Trainer
- Possess a current CPR, First Aid certificate from a Certified Trainer
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be available to work from June 29th, 2024 - August 2nd, 2024
- Be available to attend training days
- Be able to adhere to a 8:30 am - 3:30 pm daily work schedule
Salary
Payscale for the position is listed at $25 - $28 per hour, based on years of experience at Camp Curtis
