Placement Services

The process of applying to an independent secondary school on behalf of your child can be bewildering and emotionally draining. We hope to take as much of the mystery out of the application process as possible and to provide the information necessary for you to make the appropriate school choice. The key to success in the placement process is careful planning, communication, cooperation, and a willingness to make realistic choices given certain realities about the secondary school market in Los Angeles.

The most important role Curtis plays in the secondary school application process is to help find the right “fit” between a student and a school, rather than encourage a student to seek admission to a “prestige” school that does not meet his/her needs. It is critical that a student find the proper academic challenge in an atmosphere that also will help him/her develop the skills, confidence, and self esteem necessary for success later in life. The Headmaster, Head of the Middle School, and Head of the Upper School, will be responsible for Curtis School’s role in the process.
